Concorso lirico Tullio Serafin

The prestigious Tullio Serafin Opera Competition organized by “Concetto Armonico” with the collaboration of “Archivio storico Tullio Serafin” and the support of the Ministry of Culture, is now in its eighth edition.

The prizes of the 2025 Competition will be the roles in the opera “Le nozze di Figaro” by W. A.?Mozart, a production of the thirteenth “Vicenza in Lirica” Festival which will be held, as usual, at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza in September.

The preliminary rounds of the Competition will be hosted by some of the major Italian and foreign theaters that contribute to remembering the great Venetian conductor Tullio Serafin. The theatres involved in the preliminary round are: Teatro Filarmonico in Verona (6 April), Teatro dell’Opera in Rome (7 April), Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza (9 and 10 April), Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (14 April), Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (28 April), Teatro Real in Madrid (6 May) and Teatro alla Scala in Milan (12 May).

The semi-final and final stages of the Competition will be held at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza 22 and 23 June respectively.

The jury of the Competition will be composed of artistic directors, superintendents and singers of great fame: Cristina Ferrari (director and artistic director of Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza), Barbara Frittoli (soprano and musical consultant of “Vicenza in Lirica” Festival), Alessandro Vitiello (conductor), Alessandro Di Gloria (casting manager of Teatro dell’Opera in Rome), Caner Akgun (artistic director of Istanbul State Opera and Ballet), Stefano Canazza (artistic director of Teatro Mario Del Monaco in Treviso), Federico Faggion (artistic director of Teatro Verdi in Padua), Andrea Castello (artistic director of “Vicenza in Lirica” Festival and president of “Archivio Storico Tullio Serafin”). The President of the jury will be Claudio Orazi, Superintendent of Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. The final concert of the Competition will be held on 23 June at 8:30 pm at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza (tickets can be purchased on vivaticket.com or by sending an email to biglietteria@vicenzainlirica.it .starting from March).

The “Francesco Pacchiega” Audience Award and the “Lukas Franceschini” Critics Award will also be awarded. The critics’ jury will be composed of directors and journalists from national and international music magazines who will be defined at the end of the preliminary rounds in the various theaters.

Great satisfaction for Andrea Castello who states: “Once again the Palladian city will host representatives of some of the most important theaters at an international level, in the name of the great Tullio Serafin who must be remembered outside of provincial and low-quality schemes. It is important to underline how the Competition gives the opportunity to improve (through the Opera Studio) and to debut to young opera singers who, thanks to “Vicenza in Lirica” Festival, will have the possibility of further affirmation for their career”. It should be highlighted how the Competition dedicated to Tullio Serafin has made debut over the years about one hundred young opera singers under 34, most of whom are now performing in all the greatest national and international theaters. With Mozart’s opera “Le Nozze di Figaro”, “Concetto Armonico” concludes the Mozart trilogy after the success achieved with “Don Giovanni” (2022) and “Cosi fan tutte” (2023), preceded by “Mitridate re di Ponto” staged in 2021.
